Academic Primary Care Associates (APCA), an independent affiliate of VCOM, located on the first floor of Montgomery Regional Hospital, began seeing patients on September 10, 2007. The physicians and staff provide a full range of family medicine, sports medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine services.
The mission of APCA includes providing training opportunities for VCOM students, interns and residents. Students have rotated through the practice since the initial opening of APCA. Residents from Montgomery Regional Hospital’s rotating internship, family practice and internal medicine residency programs began rotations at APCA in July 2008. A secondary purpose of APCA is to provide residents exposure to basic knowledge and skills required to effectively operate a medical practice.
