Dr. Hendershot  is a native of Pennsylvania and a 1988 graduate of Temple University, a 1995 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and received his MS degree in 2000 from National University.  Dr. Hendershot  completed his residency training at St Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem, Pa. where he served a Chief resident.

 

He  served in the US NAVY  from 1984 to 1991 in both active duty and reserve roles as an enlisted hospital corpsman and later as a Radiation Health Officer and Nuclear Weapons Radiological Controls officer. Prior to relocating to the New River Valley in 2008, Dr. Hendershot served in the US Public Health service and as a medical director for the Department of Justice. He is currently the Chairman of Family medicine at VCOM. Dr. Hendershot’s  professional interests include public health and occupational/  environmental medicine.
